Sean Connery, who played Harrison Ford’s father in the 1989 'Indiana Jones' trilogy 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusades', died on October 31, 2020 at the age of 90.
In a statement made to Variety, Ford, 78, stated, “He was my father...not in life...but in Indy3,”
He continued, “You don’t know pleasure until someone pays you to take Sean Connery for a ride in the sidecar of a Russian motorcycle bouncing along a bumpy, twisty mountain trail and getting to watch him squirm.”
George Lucas also spoke of his work with the Hollywood Legend.
“Sir Sean Connery, through his talent and drive, left and indelible mark in cinematic history,
His audiences spanned generations, each with favorite roles he played. He will always hold a special place in my heart as Indy’s dad,” he shared.
“With an air of intelligent authority and sly sense of comedic mischief, only someone like Sean Connery could render Indiana ones immediately into boyish regret or relief through a stern fatherly hiding or rejoiceful hug,”
Connery’s family announced that he “died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family” in the Bahamas, where he lived.
