Flood water pollution levels off the charts | News

Porfirio Villarreal, a representative and spokesperson for the Houston Health Department warned people on Wednesday about the level of pollution Harvey left behind through its floods. “[Water] It’s contaminated. There’s millions of contaminants.” He added, “We’re telling people to avoid floodwater as much as possible. Don’t let your children play in it. And if you do touch it, wash it off.” Water dropped from last weekend’s hurricane have mixed with tons of toxic chemicals, sewage, waste, and that has risen the odds for people contracting serious ailments such as, cholera, typhoid, and other potential deadly diseases.
