Nevada about to execute an inmate using an opioid drug cocktail


The Nevada Department of Corrections is preparing to execute inmate Scott Raymond Dozier on November 14 at Ely State Prison. How? They are using a combination of drugs which include the powerful opioid fentanyl, diazepam, and cisatracurium. The reason on why the correctional facility is going this route is because of the “pharmaceutical industry’s opposition to the use of their products in executions,” said The Marshall Project. Executive director of the ACLU Tod Story said this process is not “compliant with the Eight Amendment of the Constitution,” because it has never been done before and cannot “point to some success or result.” | News
