A newborn survives Ebola virus

A new born baby girl diagnosed with the Ebola virus just six days after she was born survived the deadly and highly contagious pathogen in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Health officials said that her mother, who had Ebola too, had died giving birth to baby Benedicte. Six days after the baby was born, she began to develop symptoms of the disease, but after five weeks of twenty four-seven treatment and care, she finally defeated the illness.

Thomas, the baby’s father, was able to take her home last Wednesday after being released from care. Baby Benedicte was Thomas’s first child.
