Back in1997 The Atlantic reported that the organization of Jehovah's Witnesses sent out a survey to Kingdom Halls throughout the United States in order to document child abuse instances.

While some recently are claiming that these documents are part of some mass child abuse cover-up, one child advocate and mental health expert is praising the efforts of Jehovah's Witnesses in these regards.

"The best way to address child abuse is head on. If Jehovah's Witnesses really did send out a document to understand the scope of the problem, they are to be warmly commended, stats child advocate Joseph Bonner. He continues, " In an era of child abuse cover-up an and scandal associated with the Catholic Church, it's admirable to see an organization taking a stand like this."

Jehovah's Witnesses have published numerous articles, books, and one video to help parents protect their children from abuse and have provided international training to their congregation Elders on their responsibility to report suspected abuse to local law enforcement.
