KOCO-TV anchor Alex Housden is receiving major backlash for comparing her African American co-host to a gorilla during a news segment last Thursday.
During a special segment about an ape, Hackett said, “You can tell that he was ready for his close-up."
“Kind of looks like you,” Housden replied.
Housden joined Hackett on the couch the following day with a tearful apology, stating, “I said something yesterday that was inconsiderate, it was inappropriate, and I hurt people,” She continued. “I want you to know I understand how much I hurt you out there and how much I hurt [Hackett].”
Housden has continued her role as anchor at KOCO 5 since the incident.
