Father who caused the death of his two children after falling asleep drunk with a cigarette convicte
San Diego: It was the morning after Halloween in 2017 when 10-year-old Cristos, and 7-year-old Isabella, died as a result of smoke inhalation that was the direct result of a fire caused by their father Henry Lopez who fell asleep drunk with his cigarette still lit in Rancho Bernardo.
Cristos was found inside his father’s room, and Isabella was found on the bottom bunk bed in her brother’s room.
At the time, Henry Lopez and ex-wife Nikia Lopez were in the middle of a divorce and Mr. Lopez had partial custody.
Lopez was convicted on Monday of felony charges including child endangerment and involuntary manslaughter.
Lopez could be seen shaking his head after the verdict was read and was taken away in handcuffs.
