Malawi confirms three coronavirus cases, bring the number to 50 of African countries infected

In a Special Address to the Nation, Malawi President Peter Mutharika confirmed on Thursday that the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Malawi is three. Making it the first recorded cases in the southern African country. All cases are confirmed in the region of Lilongwe. According to President Mutharika, a 63-year-old patient had recently traveled to India. Two of her domestic workers also contracted the notorious coronavirus. Just last week, President Mutharika declared a state of national disaster over the pandemic. There are presently four countries in Africa unaffected. They are South Sudan, Lesotho, Principe, Sao Tome and Comoros.
