Medical plane in Philippines used for coronavirus response exploded; killing 8
While taking off for Japan covering Sunday, an aircraft used as an air ambulance caught fire and exploded, killing 8 on board.
A Lion Air aircraft was destined for Haneda Airport in Tokyo when it caught fire at Manila International Airport on the runway while taking off the NAIA runway 24.
Manila airport general manager Ed Monreal reports that there were no survivors.
The victims included a flight medic, doctor, nurse, 3 members of the flight crew, one patient and their companion.
