The Philippines hit by a string of large quakes leaving behind massive destruction

At least five people are confirmed dead Thursday after another large earthquake hits the Philippines. The 3rd quake of its kind, of late, leaves behind mass destruction in the southern region.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the Cotabato province was hit by a 6.5-magnitude quake in a region already devastated by two previous strong earthquakes that resulted in hundreds of aftershocks this month.

The Officer of Civil Defence reports that eight people died in Tuesday's 6.6 magnitude quake, two were missing and 395 were injured. Some 2,700 buildings were damaged.

The Oct. 16 quake had a magnitude 6.3 and claimed the lives of some seven people, injured more than 200 and destroying or damaging more than 7,000 buildings.
