Alec Baldwin tragically kills producer onset of new move, injuring another
Santa Fe, New Mexico: One director shot and the other killed by SNL actor Alec Baldwin on the set of the Western movie "Rust," and a criminal investigation is now underway to determine exactly how this accident happened.
Halyna Hutchins, director of photography, was airlifted to the University of New Mexico Hospital where she is being treated for injuries.
Joel Souza, director, was pronounced dead by medical personnel, according to authorities.
Alec Baldwin discharged a prop firearm, injuring his two directors.
Movie filming for "Rust" is at a halt.
Santa Fe County Sheriff released this statement:
"The sheriff's office confirms that two individuals were shot on the set of 'Rust'. "Halyna Hutchins, 42, director of photography and Joel Souza, 48, director, were shot when a prop firearm was discharged by Alec Baldwin, 68, producer and actor."
A spokesperson for Rust Movies Productions LLC told Deadline:
“The entire cast and crew has been absolutely devastated by today’s tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Halyna’s family and loved ones.
