Raped repeatedly while in the Navy when he was just 17, Heath Phillips opens up about his experience to encourage more victims to come forward.
This by far is one of the hardest show's I've ever had to do. Even while talking to Heath, I felt my anger boiling up inside. Not just because of what he endured at only 17 but mainly because of the people who should have protected him refused to. Instead, blaming him for the ordeal while his multiple rapists when unpunished.
If that were not enough, the follow Navy comrades who did nothing to help him when they saw him being raped repeatedly for some ten months.
I encourage everyone to listen to this episode of the Joseph Bonner Show, while the details may be somewhat hard to listen to, it highlights the reality of the rape culture that exists not just in the military but in the entire world.
For anyone who's ever been blamed for their assault and anyone suffering in silence, this episode is for you. You are not alone, and you are indeed are not to blame. You never were, and you never will be.
And to Heath Philips, thank you so much brother for being so brave on my show and opening your heart. You are a hero in my book, and I will support you as much as I can to help more survivors come forward.
