Social media has been a useful tool in helping us stay connected with our family and friends. At times though, we may begin to notice signs that our friend, family member or child is battling with depression from their post?

Here are the signs to look for:

Their post regularly includes lyrics to song that talks about sadness or depression.

Their post regularly reveal that they are angry or stressed.

They only post selfies and are seldom seen in photos with friends or family.

Their post reveals that they are going through a financial struggle.

Their post indicate frustration over people not supporting a friends business.

Ways to reach out:

A phone call to reassure your friend or family member of your love and support.

Invite them out on a special day and treat them to lunch. Let them talk.. Don't give too much advice. Mostly listen.

Invest in your friend's dream. Even if it's small the gesture can do much to reinstall their confidence and hope.

Post publicly about how proud you are of your friend or relative. The public acknowledgment can do wonders at easing their hart.

Don't be afraid to give your friend an embrace and let them know how much they mean to you.

Check on them weekly or biweekly just to remind them of your love and support.
